Useful information
Located 30 minutes of navigation from Nouméa (13 km towards the Dumbéa pass), the islet is known for its fine sandy beaches.


Floristic wealth

The islet is dominated by a herbaceous coastal formation at the top of the beach. Coastal thickets cover the southern facade. The islet is home to vegetation typical of these environments such as sailor wood, martaoui or even Oceanian rosewood.
The underwater herbarium is remarkable.


Faunal wealth

5 species of nesting birds (Australian gull, osprey, black noddy, nereis tern, diamond tern and Pacific puffin) are likely to breed there. The nest of the latter is an underground gallery more than a meter long, which collapses, covering the chick with sand when it is accidentally trampled. It is therefore essential not to walk on the nesting areas.
The environment is home to a rich community of 144 species of fish with a dominance of damselfish and parrot fish. The site represents an important area for the dugong.
The coral beds are relatively diverse with a slight dominance of branching corals and coral pinnacles.
